Following a decision of the Extra-ordinary Meeting of the Sectoral Council on Tourism and Wildlife Management of 15th July 2022, the EAC organized annual regional tourism EXPOs that are hosted by the Partner States on a rotational basis.

The Annual East African Community (EAC) Regional Tourism Expo is a pivotal event aimed at promoting East Africa as a unified tourism destination. This expo is hosted annually by EAC member states on a rotational basis. The primary objectives include fostering business-to-business (B2B) engagements, showcasing tourism investment opportunities, and addressing challenges within the tourism and wildlife sectors across the region.

Recent and Upcoming Expos

  • 2023 Expo: The third edition was held from November 20–22, 2023, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. This event was organized in collaboration with the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE) and featured over 100 hosted buyers and 300 exhibitors. The theme for this edition was "Tourism for Green Growth," emphasizing sustainable tourism practices 

  • 2025 Expo: As of now, specific details regarding the 2025 edition, including dates and location, have not been publicly announced. However, the EAC continues to promote regional tourism through various initiatives, such as participating in international trade fairs and launching joint marketing campaigns.

Strategic Initiatives

In 2025, the EAC has intensified efforts to position the region as a leading global tourism destination. Notably, the EAC participated for the first time as a unified entity at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin from March 4–6, 2025. Under the brand "Visit East Africa: Feel the Vibe," the region showcased its diverse attractions, including iconic wildlife, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Great Migration.
